Irwindale Speedway to Close After 2024 Season

Irwindale Speedway and Dragstrip, a prominent motorsports venue in Southern California, will officially close after its 2024 season, marking the end of a 25-year legacy. The closure culminates in a grand farewell event scheduled for December 21, featuring various racing activities, including NASCAR short-track races and a Drift Invitational. Tim Huddleston, President of Irwindale Speedway & Event Center, expressed gratitude to the community for their support throughout the years, highlighting the track's significance as a gathering place for racing enthusiasts. The 63-acre site was purchased by IDS Real Estate Group in 2022, with plans for an industrial business park to replace the venue. Several events will continue leading up to the farewell, including the Mooneyes Christmas Party and other racing nights. Tickets for the Farewell Extravaganza will go on sale starting November 8.
